Added Work from the Summer Semester

Hi Guys,

I’ve just added some drawings from my ‘Animal Anatomy’ class from this Summer 2010 Semester. Hope you like.

Welcome to the new CgCarter.com!

Hello,

Welcome to my new site! I am very pleased to launch this brand new, more up-to-date site, proudly powered by WordPress (and a lot of customizing on my end). This blog area is where you can leave comments on the posts I make. You can also get automatic updates when I make a post to the site, just by clicking the little RSS button on your right-hand side. The other buttons there lead to my various profiles on CGTalk, LinkedIn, and other professional sites, as well as Facebook.

This new blog format will allow me (and encourage me) to update this site more often than I have in the past.

New Features:
-The obvious total redesign of the site from stem to stern
-A main blog where I’ll post about new happenings and work added to the site
-A proper Tutorials Area (finally) where I’ll write and post new tutorials and field questions from others. Commenters can’t add images to their posts yet, but that’s coming soon.
-RSS. There are two separate RSS feeds from this site, one for the Blog RSS, the other for the Tutorials RSS. Just click the orange RSS chicklets to subscribe so you can keep up on the happenings here.
-An actual demo reel (or something close), at long last. The other videos are still available but for now, they’re being kept at Vimeo, so you can go see them there.
-A new resume system, where one can just download it in .pdf or .rtf for easier viewing or printing.
-Users can register at the site and be given a username and password so they can use the PM system and edit their comments and use an avatar. But you don’t have to register just to make a comment.
-Social networking buttons so you can check up on me at facebook. :)
-A list of my favorite artists (ever growing) with links to their sites.
-And of course, a sketchbook so you can see stuff I do that’s not portfolio level, but still worth seeing.

Roadmap:
-In the future, I’d like to improve the image thumbnails so that I can put links on them, allowing users to go and read a project breakdown for a given image. Easy enough, just a little too time consuming atm.
-I plan to have the site dynamically size itself to the screen it’s on.
-I want the RSS buttons to be different colors for different feeds. That’s harder than it looks, but I can fix it when I get time.

Well I hope you all love the site. I do. And I love WordPress too. Their system enabled all this fancy-shmancy blog stuff and I’m eternally thankful for the work they’ve done to make this all possible.

Feel free to leave comments below about the site. They won’t appear straight away as every visitor must have one approved comment before they appear automatically. (It’s a spam protection.)

Oh, and if you have suggestions, please throw em at me.

Thanks for stopping in!
